Hello everyone and welcome back to another lovely Music Therapy Monday 111521! The Colorado Springs team had a fun weekend that we’re excited to share about! Our Music Therapy Director, Heather, became a member of the Colorado Parkinson Foundation and attended her first support group meeting this past Saturday. She’ll be part of a group of health care professionals and volunteers that strive to help Coloradans living with Parkinson’s and their caregivers live their best quality of life. Here is what Heather has to share about the meeting,
“It was wonderful to be introduced to such a warm, kind group. I had so much fun connecting with other members and hearing their stories. We heard an awesome presentation on the Alexander Technique, had amazing dialogue, and enjoyed a wonderful meal together. I also appreciated how welcoming everyone was and enjoyed answering questions about music therapy, and hearing how excited and intrigued everyone was to learn more! I’m also excited to share I’ll be hosting a therapeutic singing group prior to the start of the meeting each month starting at 9:30am, along with my weekly group at our store! All are welcome to participate! I’m excited to get involved with such a wonderful group, and I highly encourage anyone living with Parkinson’s and caregivers to check out the Foundation’s resources and to be a part of the support group too!”
Don’t forget, the Parkinson’s Sing-a-Long group is every Monday at 1pm at 2332 Vickers Drive, and the support group meeting is the second Saturday of each month at 10am, with Heather leading a therapeutic singing group at 9:30am! Email Heather at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn how you can participate!
Enjoy those beautiful leaves falling (or get ready for snow, depending where you’re at!!), and we’ll see you next time!
